Maine Quality Counts

Maine Quality Counts is an independent statewide alliance working to transform health and health care in Maine by leading, coordinating, and aligning improvement efforts. Quality Counts envisions a future in which every person in Maine will enjoy the best of health and have access to patient-centered care that is uniformly high quality, equitable, and efficient. Through actively engaging and working in partnership with people, communities, and health care partners, Quality Counts seeks to:

Further increase system alignment to transform health and health care;
Promote a sustainable system of quality improvement assistance to all Maine providers;
Foster meaningful consumer engagement; and
Promote integration of behavioral and physical health.

Dirigo Health Agency

The Maine Legislature created DHA in 2003 as "an independent executive agency to arrange for the provision of comprehensive, affordable health care coverage to eligible small employers, including the self-employed, their employees and dependents, and individuals on a voluntary basis." The Legislature specified that DHA "is also responsible for monitoring and improving the quality of health care in this State."
